Does the Myrtle Beach Police Department do fingerprinting for the public?
Yes. On Tuesdays from 3pm to 4pm (Holidays excluded) for city residents or businesses located in the city that require employees fingerprinted. Fingerprinting is done at the MBPD Annex building located at 3340 Mustang St on the former Air Force base.

How can I create a community watch for my neighborhood?
A Community Watch is a crime prevention program that involves citizens working together with each other and law enforcement to reduce crime and victimization in their communities. Contact the Myrtle Beach Police Department`s crime prevention officer at (843) 918-1806. He will let you know if there is one already for your area or how to start one for your community.

When and where are Taxi chauffeur`s permits issued?
New or renewal Taxi chauffeur`s permits are issued every Thursday from 10am to 11am (Holidays excluded) at the MBPD Annex building located at 3340 Mustang St on the former Air Force base. The cost is $50 per year and you must have a 10 year driving record (from all states going back for 10 years), a SLED criminal history and your City of Myrtle Beach Chauffeur’s Permit application.

Are all crime reports investigated by a detective?
No. Patrol supervisors review and determine which cases are assigned to the Investigations Division. Detective supervisors then review the cases and assign them to detectives to be investigated. Whether a case is assigned to a detective or not is based on the type of crime and evidentiary solvability factors. However, all crime reports are reviewed by supervisors.
